Purpose of Part 147

Part 147 provides a uniform set of national requirements for
organisations providing maintenance category and aircraft type
training. It is based on EASA Part 147 and includes the following
MTO requirements.

• Establish organisation structures and management responsibilities similar to other organisations approved under the maintenance regulations.
  
• Establish necessary qualifications for key employee functions within the organisation.
  
• Provide maintenance training that meets CASR Part 66 specifications for initial licence issue and aircraft type rating.
  
• Provide theoretical and practical aircraft maintenance training.
  
• Establish appropriate relationships with maintenance organisations to access aircraft and aeronautical products for on-aircraft practical training if required.
  
• Operate in accordance with its organisational approval, based on CASA’s assessment of its exposition.
