It has been a long time coming but we are nearly there.
We anticipate that we will be implementing the new MRS in March 2016. This system will replace the current online application system. It will be a significant upgrade to the existing system. Several of you would have already attended training this year. However, we believe that gaining confidence with the system is essential. We will be providing further training opportunities including some face to face training for those of you who are keen to attend:
In order to assist with the organisation of the Training please complete the short survey. Here you can indicate if you would like further training and what your preferred method/s would be.
To ensure that applications are reviewed before the CASA Christmas shutdown (24th Dec - 3rd Jan) all medicals and documentation submitted to AvMed by the 4th December.
We are unable to guarantee that any medical received after this date will be processed before Christmas. Obviously, this date applies to complete and uncomplicated applications. Where additional information is required, this may take longer.
We all contribute to a safe aviation environment and it is good to acknowledge when things are done well. Just recently, for example, a heart murmur was detected during an examination. The applicant's DAME arranged for an echo, diagnosed a bicuspid valve and dilated aorta. This carries a significant risk. In addition, a past history of surgery for coarctation of the aorta was uncovered.
There is a regular flow of applicants who have been found to have ischaemic heart disease, diabetes or a number of other significant diagnoses during the course of the medicals. Then there are the psychiatric issues which can come to light. So thank you for diligent exams. If we can assist, please call us.
